Orlando’s LGBTQIA+ Parade & Festival

Diverse Leadership

Come Out With Pride has a Board of Directors composed of 13 individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. They are tasked with strategic planning, overseeing the annual budget, and setting the general direction for each year’s programming. Prospective Board members can be self-nominated or nominated by an existing Board member and are then evaluated by the Governance Committee which makes recommendations based on qualifications and interview responses.

In 2021 Come Out With Pride hired its first Executive Director. This major milestone symbolized the organization’s progress, growth, sustainability, and vision for the future. Recognizing the increased need for leaders of color from marginalized communities, Come Out With Pride’s Board of Directors appointed Tatiana Quiroga, who has not only over 20 years of nonprofit and community building experience, but is one of the only leaders in Central Florida who identifies as female, QLatinx, and as an immigrant from Latin America. Her mission and vision is to increase the organization’s year-round programming while cultivating authentic relationships with diverse community partners.

The Come Out With Pride Production Team is responsible for actively planning and executing our parade and festival in October and has an average of 20-40 talented volunteers throughout the course of the year. There are numerous opportunities for leadership advancement — most of our standing committees have a director overseeing several subcommittees, each with its own managers and chairs.

Organization Has Evolved Since 2005

While Pride events have taken place in various formats and capacities since the 1970s, Come Out With Pride officially formed in 2005 as a program under the Metropolitan Business Association (MBA), Orlando’s LGBTQIA+ Chamber of Commerce.

The name and annual October time frame was chosen to reflect National Coming Out Day, held every year on October 11 in the United States.

After half a decade of increased attendance and an expanding festival, in 2010 Come Out With Pride was incorporated as a subsidiary 501(c)3 organization of MBA with its own Board, budget and committees. Given the ongoing evolution of Pride and the differing missions of both organizations, at the end of 2021 the Boards of both Come Out With Pride and The Pride Chamber (formerly MBA) mutually agreed to separate. Come Out With Pride is currently a fully independent entity with sound finances, a solid leadership team, significant community goodwill, and continued growth ahead. Aside from the fully independent status, there were no Board, operational, or financial changes as a result of the separation.
